I’ve seen your tracks in the snowbank and I know you’ve been here. Yet suddenly I fear that when the snow melts all these feelings that I felt will soon be gone too, then what will I do?

I’ve seen your tracks in the snowbank and I know that you’re gone. Yet still I go on. I keep my eyes fixed on the ground you’ve trotted. Gone but not forgotten, gone but not forgotten.

My heart strings are tied to the ceiling fan, pulling me tighter and higher. I don’t know the reason I tied them there, kicked them so close to the fire. I look in the embers and then I remember the ground you’ve trotted. Gone but not forgotten.

I never truly knew you, until you were gone and now, I know your heart, I’ll find a way to carry on. I wear your echo wrapped around my neck. I’ll keep searching the snowbanks until I find your final steps.

I can’t wait to see you again, under the blackened star.
